Little-Known Sights Around Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is one of the top travel destinations in the country thanks to its amazing history, museums, and sports: but there’s so much here that many don’t know exists!  From a trolley museum that puts the past in motion to a theater that helps change what you think about entertainment, there’s nothing like the unknown stops Pittsburgh can offer.  These are the top little-known sights around this amazing city, and why you should consider exploring them soon!  Pittsburgh

Why Go to Lesser-Known Stops?

The best reason to go to little-known destinations is that you’ll never have to deal with the dense crowds and full lines that come with tourist traps.  Although those destinations can also be fun, they leave you exhausted and feel like you spend more time waiting than enjoying the area. These quieter locations are also relatively less expensive than big-name attractions, and you don’t need to spend your entire day in them to make the cost worth it.   By going to lesser-known areas, you also get to help boost smaller companies and businesses and ensure that they’ll thrive long enough to continue surprising and entertaining visitors who stumble across them!

Pennsylvania Trolley Museum

If you want to enjoy something unique and fun, consider stopping by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum!  On track for a renovation within the next couple of years, this fantastic stop allows you to visit and learn about the history of trolleys and trains.  If you’re traveling for someone’s birthday, you can even book a special ride to enjoy touring the city in a vintage trolley decked out with balloons and decorations to make any special day that spectacular.

August Wilson House

This unique building in Pittsburgh’s Crawford- Roberts neighborhood was built in the 1840s and was the childhood home of playwright August Wilson.  Visiting gives you a chance to walk through a museum dedicated to his life and works and learn about the type of person he was.  If you love historic buildings or are just curious about his life, this is an awesome stop to make.  Although it’s not one of the many awesome houses for sale in Pittsburgh, you’ll find yourself picturing what it would be like to live here!

Mr. Smalls Theater

If you’re curious about how theater can be made unique and groundbreaking, it’s time to check out the Mr. Smalls Theater!  This multi-purpose space has a concert stage, recording studios, a skate park, and an artists’ Rock Hostel.  Playing with the idea of theater and turning it into something fantastical and new gives the Mr. Smalls Theater the chance to stun and amaze everyone who stops by.  There are some historical signs and newspaper clippings up near the entrance, so if you’re curious about who’s playing here or what the area has to offer, it’s a stop to make!

Pittsburgh is Paradise for Vacationers!

Whether you’re new to the state or simply looking for something new to do in Pittsburgh, each of these stops offers something you won’t find anywhere else.  Consider making a trip of it, and enjoy the less traveled path!
