New Year’s Resolution To Be A Great Friend!

‍ It’s that time of year again – time to make New Year’s resolutions! Whether it’s to look at your health, start a new hobby, or make more time for yourself, it’s all about self-improvement and setting goals for the upcoming year. But what if one of your resolutions was to call your friends and family more often? As we start a new year, it’s important to check in with our friends and family and make sure they’re doing okay. Checking in with them can be a great way to stay connected, build relationships, and be there for them when they need it. Here are some of the benefits of checking in with friends and ways to make it easier.

Benefits of Checking in With Friends

One of the main benefits of checking in with friends is that it helps build strong relationships with them. It can be easy to forget about friends and family when we get busy with work, school, and other commitments, but a quick call or text can make all the difference. These days, thanks to the internet, we can even make use of video calls to stay in touch, and even play games or watch movies together – even if you still wonder exactly what is broadband internet and how does it work, you’ll more than likely have it, or another form of internet, in your home.

Ways to Make It Easier to Call Friends

Making time to check in with friends can be difficult, especially if we have a busy schedule. Here are some ways to make it easier to call your friends more often, all you need is broadband internet.
  1. Set a reminder: Setting a reminder on your phone or calendar can help you remember to call your friends. You could even set up a reminder to check in with a specific friend each week or month.
  2. Make a list: Making a list of people you want to call can help you stay organized and make sure you don’t forget anyone.
  3. Schedule it: If you know you won’t have a lot of time to call, try scheduling a specific time for a phone call or video call each week. That way, you don’t have to worry about forgetting or running out of time.

Creative Ways to Check In With Friends

Calling your friends isn’t the only way to check in with them. Here are some creative ways to stay connected with your friends:
  1. Send a handwritten letter: There’s nothing quite like getting a handwritten letter in the mail. It’s a great way to show your friends you’re thinking of them and to let them know you care.
  2. Play an online game together: If you can’t be together in person, try playing an online game together. You can have a virtual game night and have just as much fun as you would in person!
  3. Have a virtual movie night: Watching a movie together can be a great way to stay connected with your friends. You can all watch the same movie at the same time, or you can sync up your streaming accounts and watch different movies at the same time.
  4. Send a care package: Sending a care package is a great way to show your friends you’re thinking of them. Fill it with their favorite snacks, books, or even a handwritten letter.

Sending Random Gifts to Show You Care

Expanding on from sending a care package, one of the most thoughtful ways to check in the last recent years has been with sweet hampers from Swizzels. I’ve both sent and received them and there really is something about a pick-me-up! It doesn’t have to be anything big or expensive, just something small and thoughtful that they’ll appreciate. You could send a gift basket filled with their favorite snacks or a book they’ve been wanting to read. Or you could send a handwritten postcard with a few kind words. You could even send them a gift card to their favorite store or a subscription to their favorite service. No matter what you choose, your friends will appreciate the gesture. It’s a great way to let them know they’re loved and that you’re thinking of them! Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?
