Even though I live so close to the Peak Districts, I haven’t experienced half as much as I would love to with Camping clubs. One amazing way to visit and explore the Peak Districts is with a caravan or motorhome and a membership to one or both of the UK’s biggest caravan and motorhome clubs – the Caravan and Motorhome Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club. They own small campsites where only camping club members are allowed and can take up to 5 vehicles. I’ve been camping once before in a tent and vowed to never go again, but having taken 360 virtual tours of all the current caravans and motorhomes in the current Bailey of Bristol ranges and having seen some of the lovely picturesque places you can take them, I’ve definitely warmed up to the idea of trying camping in a caravan or motorhome and can see how when camping, clubs can help you find some beautiful places to stay. The only thing I would be worried about is how big and luxurious they are, I’d definitely recommend insuring before setting off. Chatsworth House

Chatsworth House is so magical and such a wonderful place to visit. From the actual house itself to the Gardens and Parkland, you could easily spend a good few days looking around. Chatsworth House has so much to offer for children, from a large woodland adventure playground, with rope park, trampoline, swings, zip wire, you name it! There’s even a farmyard and Guinea Pig Village where the children can pet the Guinea Pigs and other animal handling sessions. There’s something for everyone at Chatsworth House and being able to be part of a camping club so closely is a huge positive.

The camping can also be combined with other activities such as visiting the Gardens and Parkland, playing in the adventure playground, or even going on a Guided Tour of the House. As well as this, the Campsite also has a large number of activities that it runs throughout the year. These activities can be anything from Paint and Sip sessions, to Bowling, Laser Quest and even a Ghost Walk.

Castleton

We visited Castleton many, many years ago and ended up in a cave with a very rude name. It was such a huge laugh and a great memory. A beautiful place to visit with a lot to offer. When choosing your site for camping, clubs have lots of options close to places that are popular during the summer months, and there are lots of places around the country to visit that are as beautiful as Castleton. As the name suggests, there are lots of castles remains to visit and look at, not to mention all the caves.  

Camping clubs at Bakewell

A camping site near Bakewell will always be very popular, especially amongst people who like history. From the Rutland Antiques Centre and historic Magpie Mines to Thornbridge Brewery. This is definitely a place to visit to learn more, see more, and experience history. There’s also the beautiful Monsal Trail for any hikers and a couple of gardens for anyone who likes to take it a little easier. There are some great family campsites near Bakewell, too, perfect for those with children. From the Adventure Base in Castleton to the Wildlife Park, there’s plenty of camping in this part of Derbyshire that’s perfect for families. Camping in the Peak Districts opens up a world of fun!
