Well, the cost of removals is determined by a number of factors, including the size and weight of your items, how far you need to travel and how quickly you need to get them there, not to mention the company itself. Most companies won’t even have their prices on their site and they’ll have lots of hidden fees and extras that you don’t really need to have on when you ask them for a quote. Personally, I like being able to look at the rough prices online and be able to make my judgment by that.
For example, when looking at a removal service for 2 bed flat in London, the cost of removals is looking to be about £35+ an hour depending on how many movers you would need. Ideally, I’d say at least two so that you can be organising and pack anything last minute rather than lifting things. If you’ve already packed up and are ready to move then lifting everything out will only take a few hours. However, if you need help with last-minute packing too then you’re looking more like a full day.
If the weather is okay and you’ve got a set-back front garden, a great way to speed up the time is by already having things outside and waiting. Of course, you’ll want someone there to keep an eye on it. Make sure that you’ve purged absolutely everything beforehand to avoid packing anything you don’t actually want or need. It’s a great idea to start a clear-out and deep clean a few weeks or months before you know you’re moving. Give things away to friends and family, drop them off at the charity shop, or even sell them, after all, moving hour is expensive!
