Clean up with a power washer
While you might look at the outside of your house and think it looks pretty clean, you’d be amazed at the difference to any home once you’ve given it a once-over with a power washer. Make sure your paths and the exterior of your home are in tip top condition so that you know you can live your best selfie life this Summer without worrying about a less than an immaculate backdrop.Consider doing some big renovations
British homes are built for the Winter. While this is great when its cold and stormy outside and you’re snuggled up inside your insulated home, it does mean that you’re going to be overheating in the Summer. However there are certain renovations you can carry out in your home to get it ready for the Summer, such as installing an aluminium lantern roof which will let all of that glorious sunshine in while also being thermally efficient.Opt for light bedding
It’s hard enough to sleep in the Summer as it is, without having dark bedding which leaves you feeling overheated, especially if the sun has been hitting it. Making sure that you have light bedding, as well as cushions and curtains, throughout your home will leave it feeling light, fresh and airy, which is ideal on a day where you’re likely to get too hot.Invest in an air conditioning unit
One of the reasons we struggle so much in the UK every time Summer hits, is that our homes do not come with built in air conditioning like they would in warmer countries. And as much as they might try their best, desk fans just do not make a big enough difference. A great way to combat this is to invest in a large air conditioning unit. You need to pop the hose out of the window and make sure your doors are closed, but within minutes your room will be ice cold.Consider a new door
If your front door has seen better days and you’re struggling with it being stiff or not unlocking through the Winter, then right before Summer is the perfect time to consider replacing it. The reason for this is that the weather is more likely to be consistent, as your door is likely to swell if there is too much moisture in the air – which is the last thing you want when getting a brand new door!
