4 Reasons to Rent in Atlanta

4 Reasons to Rent in Atlanta One of my favourite hobbies is browsing property listings online. I love to spend an afternoon dreaming up a whole life that could take place within a home – picturing what it would look like with Christmas lights in December, or what fun my future grandchildren might have playing in the garden. I don’t just limit myself to my local area either, finding beautiful homes all over the world that fit in to my imaginary future plans. However, when I looked at places in Atlanta, Georgia, I realised how amazing the homes look for what you pay, and that my research could help out somebody who was looking to move there. Here are four reasons to rent in Atlanta.   atlanta

50% of people in Atlanta live in rented homes

While in many places throughout the US there are more people buying homes, the split in Atlanta is actually really even, with 50-51 percent of people renting their home at any given time according to Zumper. This shows that there is a really positive attitude to renting in Atlanta, with half of the population finding it an accessible option for their living situation. A high percentage of renters represents a population that is always in flux, with many choosing to settle down and remain in Atlanta as they become homeowners.

Prices have only slightly increased on studio apartments

Research shows that from 2020 to 2021, the cost of a studio apartment in Atlanta rose by only 2 percent, which is well within the line of inflation. While the same cannot be said for family homes – the cost of renting a four bedroom home went up by 20 percent – this makes renting as a single person a much more affordable way to move to a new area and experience a new way of life. This is perfect for somebody who might want to travel around a bit and experience different places in America before they decide to plant roots in any one city.

Some neighbourhoods are very affordable

While Zumper reports that the median rent in Atlanta is $2500, there are some neighbourhoods where you can rent a four bedroom home for around – and under – $1000 per month. This makes Atlanta a very affordable place to live, with a whole variety of neighbourhoods to choose from so that you can be sure you are suiting your living situation to you and your family’s needs. With the average income being over $88,000 in Atlanta, renting is a fantastic, affordable option for working families.

Renting gives you flexibility

Renting gives you all of the benefits of living somewhere – the experience of a beautiful home in a gorgeous location – without any of the responsibility. Indeed, some argue that renting is an even better option than buying, as a long term endeavour. You can rest easy knowing that your landlord is responsible for the cost of any repairs or work that needs to be done on the house, and you aren’t tied into a lengthy mortgage, which is ideal if you aren’t ready to settle down.    Do you rent your home? Would you ever consider renting in Atlanta? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
