What are threaded rods?

Have you ever been at a local hardware store and not know what a specific type of fastener was? You could ask for help, yes but it also feels great to go in and know exactly what you need and why you need it. No need for questions, a quick in and out trip. Why do I care about fasteners? As Jenny in Neverland says, “Fasteners and fixings might not be the most glamorous parts of hardware but they are an essential part of any structure. I’d go as far as saying that fasteners are the bedrock of a structure.” Fasteners are a key part of most things we use during our day-to-day, so it’s important to know the minimum about these details. Why threaded rods? I’ve recently learnt about threaded rods, so I thought of sharing what these are with others that might find it interesting (and might want to know what threaded rods are next time they are down the hardware store!). I first found a threaded rod at Speedy Fixings whilst browsing their website and then got in touch with them to know more about this particular fastener. Who are Speedy Fixings? “They are a UK-based manufacturer and supplier of all kinds of products for the construction, civil engineering and similar industries.” Explains Buckets of Tea. If you ever want to shop local for your hardware needs, I’d recommend Speedy Fixings. What are threaded rods? Now, back to threaded rods. What are threaded rods? How to use threaded rods? All of your questions will be answered, don’t worry. Also known as stud, studding or all-thread, threaded rods “may be threaded at both ends or continuous.” Explains Julius Soled in Fasteners Handbook. In his book, Julius explains the basics of all types of fasteners, including threaded rods. Threaded rods are used in tapped holes with a nut at one end or as a tie rod with nuts at both ends. These are heavy-duty fasteners designed to secure two materials together. Threaded rods are often used when a fastener of a greater length and rigidity is needed. These fasteners vary in size and material, from M6 threaded rods to stainless steel threaded rods and more. Did you know about threaded rods?
