Ensure your kids stay hydrated all of the time
Proper hydration is something that I know many grown-ups struggle with, so its harder to instill the need to drink lots of water in our kids. However, it is so important that your kids stay hydrated so that their brains can develop properly, they feel happy and healthy and, more importantly, they are in the best state to fight off nasty bugs. Keep a water bottle with your child at all times, and remember there’s nothing wrong with adding a splash of cordial juice if it keeps them interested in drinking water.Make multivitamins part of their daily routine
There’s something that kids find so exciting about taking vitamins – its probably the chance to take daily medication and feel like a grown-up! This is why having a back to school immunity pack that is taken all year round is a great way to boost their health and keep their vitamin levels high so that they remain strong and nourished. Taking a multivitamin is better than taking individual vitamins as it covers all bases, and between having gummies, sprays, and all other kinds of ways of taking vitamins, your child will find it super exciting to look after their health.Don’t be afraid to keep them home if they need rest
It can be a bit of a taboo subject, but I am a firm believer that if your kids are feeling under the weather, they shouldn’t be forced to go to school. There are a couple of reasons for this: emotionally, your child will learn that you care about their feelings and that they don’t have to force themselves into a situation when they aren’t feeling good, so they can take care of themselves and rest at home instead. But on a more physical level, the reason bugs get such a chance to take hold is that kids feel obliged to go to school when they aren’t feeling well, whereas if they stayed home when they felt under the weather the virus would have nowhere further to spread. If you really feel that they need to attend school, make sure you are stocked up on face masks for your child to wear so that their virus has less of a chance to spread.Add fresh fruits to their lunch box
As an adult, I am definitely guilty of only upping my intake of fresh fruits and vegetables when I’m feeling poorly and have an infection to fight away, but something as simple as adding an orange to their lunch box every single day can give them the vitamin C boost that your kids need to keep away those nasty bugs. It is definitely better to prevent an illness than to treat one, so keep fresh fruits handy all year long for that much-needed vitamin C.Have them spend lots of time outside when they can
Part of the reason that bugs have a good opportunity to spread when the kids get back to school is that they are enclosed in a classroom together, which gives the germs time to incubate and pass freely between the children. Getting outside wherever possible and giving the kids lots of fresh air and activity means that bugs are less likely to get a chance to take hold, as well as improving your kids’ overall health by having them stay fit outdoors.
