Understanding Diabetes

Let’s dive into the world of diabetes and how we can navigate it with confidence and positivity. Living with diabetes can be a challenge, but armed with the right information and support, we can tackle it head-on and lead fulfilling lives. As a plus size person, I’ve often been checked for pre-diabetes at my medical appointments so I’ve come to learn more about it. diabetes

Understanding Diabetes

Diabetes is a complex condition with various forms, but the two primary types are Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is commonly diagnosed in childhood, whereas Type 2 often develops later in life due to insulin resistance. Additionally, there’s a significant stage known as pre-diabetes, characterised by elevated blood sugar levels, which puts individuals at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. It’s essential to recognise the early signs and take proactive steps to manage and prevent the progression of this condition. Over a year ago now I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, and through diet and exercise, I have successfully managed to reduce my HbA1C test results to be completely in the clear in under a year. It wasn’t easy, but with determination and support, I was able to achieve this significant improvement in my health and now my numbers are quite far under any pre-diabetes flag markers.
