Dressing for Spring

Spring’s the season that likes to keep us on our toes. One day you’re sunning yourself in a beer garden, the next you’re battling a gust of wind that feels like it came straight from the Arctic. That’s exactly why layering is key this time of year, and thankfully, it doesn’t mean dressing like you’re off on an expedition.

If you’re looking for easy, throw-on pieces that look good and work hard, Lighthouse has the perfect spring staples that’ll earn their place in your wardrobe.

The Windsor Waterproof Fleece Let’s be honest, we all want something we can reach for when the weather’s doing that thing where it looks fine until you’re ten minutes from home. The Windsor Fleece is perfect for exactly that. It’s got the comfort of a fleece with the bonus of being properly waterproof (up to 5000 mm, if you like numbers), windproof and breathable.

That means you can wear it on a forest trail, round the park, or even just to nip out for a coffee without checking the forecast every five minutes. It’s got a full zip (ideal for quick changes), two zipped hand pockets, and a handy chest pocket which is perfect for your phone or a bit of dog treat bribery if needed.

Styling tips:

  • Pair it with a tee, your favourite jeans and walking boots or chunky trainers for a laid-back weekend look.

  • On slightly warmer days, pop it over a long sleeve tee and cargo shorts. Add some wool socks and you’re golden.

  • Want to smarten it up a bit? Try it with a fine-knit jumper underneath, slim chinos, and desert boots. You’ll look pulled-together without trying too hard.

And when it eventually ends up muddy, grassy or just a bit too well-loved? Straight into the washing machine it goes. No faff.

The Eden Jumper Now onto Eden. This is the kind of jumper that feels like a little sigh of relief when you pull it on. It’s 100 percent cotton, so it’s soft, breathable, and that perfect middle ground between too thick and not enough. The Soft Sage shade is lovely too, fresh enough for spring, but still goes with practically everything.

Eden works on those in-between days. You know the ones, not warm enough to go out in just a tee, but you’d boil in a full coat. It layers beautifully and isn’t bulky, so you can still move about without feeling trussed up.

How to wear it:

  • Throw it over a collared shirt with some wide-leg trousers and loafers for a comfy office-ready outfit.

  • Heading out? Style it with a maxi skirt and a denim jacket, or layer it under a trench coat with a big scarf for those breezy mornings.

  • Want a casual coastal vibe? Team it with linen trousers or light-wash jeans and canvas pumps, then roll the sleeves a touch for that effortless look.

Layering that lasts
Spring might not know what it’s doing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t feel put together. Both the Windsor and Eden are the sort of pieces you’ll keep reaching for, easy to wear, easy to style, and hard-working without being boring. Whether you’re off for a beach walk, meeting a mate in town, or just tackling the school run, having a few versatile layers in your wardrobe means you’re always ready, no matter what the skies decide to do.

So next time you’re staring at your wardrobe wondering what to wear for the fifth grey-but-sorta-sunny day in a row, you’ll know exactly what to reach for! Lighthouse has some really lovely options for everyone and you’ll no doubt find something you’ll love.
