Prepare your meals in advance
I am not a fan of cooking. In general I find it quite boring, and it takes up too much of my time every single evening so I end up just wanting to snack or order food to cut down on my time in the kitchen. A great way to combat this and ensure you are saving money and eating more nutritious meals, is to start preparing them in advance. This could be done in batches that are prepared in one day and frozen in portions, or you could throw ingredients into your slow cooker each morning so that your meal is ready when you get home.Outsource what you can
In the wise words of an episode of The Simpsons from the mid-to-late 90s, “can’t someone else do it?”. And while there are things you definitely need to be the person to get done – your job, for instance! – there are certain things that you can definitely outsource to somebody else if you have the resources. Getting your laundry done by Laundryheap is a great way to cut down on the time you spend washing and ironing your clothes every week, or even hiring a cleaner to come in one afternoon a week for an hour or so can really give you a boost that can help you stay on top of things.Find a productivity buddy
There have been multiple studies done that show that we work more efficiently when we ‘buddy up’ with somebody when it comes to being productive. Not only does this work because we have somebody who is holding us accountable in terms of getting things done in time, but it’s great to have somebody to check in with and update them on your progress when you’re proud of what you’ve done. If you have a lengthy to-do list to get through, ask a pal if they’d be willing to buddy up with you so you can smash your to-do lists together.Double up on tasks where you can
There are generally peaks and troughs in the average work week, and I like to utilise those quieter moments at work to get other tasks done that I can. For example, a quick task you can do on a lull at work might be meal planning and writing your grocery shopping list, so that you can go shopping straight after work rather than going home to write your list first and going out again later. Work smarter, not harder!Dance through the things you don’t want to do
It sounds a little bit strange, but those chores you really don’t want to do are a lot more manageable when you are having fun. To make sure I am smiling through my tasks, I give myself time to do a little bit of a dance before I get started. Not only does it make me laugh at myself and put me in a better mood straight away, but getting the heart pumping is a great way to kick-start your adrenaline to give you instant motivation for the task ahead.
